Interviewer instructions
Hitting a child with a hard object (this includes a belt) is a more severe form of physical punishment used by some parents/caretakers. It is considered more severe than spanking because more force can be exerted with a hard object than a bare hand. Some parents/caretakers use this form of punishment to teach a child not to engage in a bad behaviour.
