Description

Definition

Overime pay refers to additional remuneration for work performed beyond eight (8) hours on regular working days, regular holidays, rest days and special days. Night shift pay refers to payment for work performed between 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. of the next day. Premium pay refers to remuneration for work performed within eight (8) hours on non-working days, such as rest days and special days.

Direct Wages and Salaries: cash payments by employer to employees before any deductions is made in respect of taxes, contributions of employees to social security and pension schemes, life insurance premiums, union dues and other obligations of employees; these exclude payments/overhead costs which are reimbursements to employees for travel, entertainment, meals and other expenses incurred in conducting the business of the employer.
